Squarespace needs the data to run this website, and to protect and improve its platform and services. You can read more about how Squarespace uses your data
(site usage information of end users) for its own purposes in their Privacy Policy.

1) Information we collect

A. Information you provide to us

Depending on how you interact with the Site, you may provide:

  • Contact information (like name, email address, phone number) if you contact us or submit a form.

  • Message content (what you write in a message or inquiry).

  • Scheduling information if you book through our third-party scheduling provider (Calendly), such as your name, email, and appointment details

B. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the Site (and our website platform provider) may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser data (IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages).

  • Usage data (pages viewed, time on page, clicks, approximate location derived from IP).

  • Cookie and similar technology data (see Section 4).

Squarespace-hosted sites commonly rely on platform logging/analytics and standard website technologies.

C. Payments

At this time, we do not accept payments directly on the Site. If this changes (e.g., adding ecommerce), we will update this Privacy Policy.

D. Cookies, Fonts, and Analytics

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, display content properly, and understand how visitors interact with it.

Fonts (Google Fonts & Adobe Fonts)

This website serves font files from and renders fonts using Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. In order to properly display this site to you, these third-party font providers may receive personal information about you, including:

  • Information about your browser, network, or device

  • Information about this site and the page you are viewing

  • Your IP address

These font providers process this information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

2) How we use information

We use information to:

  • Operate and maintain the Site.

  • Respond to inquiries and communicate with you.

  • Enable scheduling requests via Calendly (when you choose to book).

  • Understand Site performance and improve content (analytics, troubleshooting).

  • Protect safety and integrity of the Site (fraud prevention, security monitoring).

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

3) Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help websites function and collect analytics.

We (and our service providers) may use:

  • Essential cookies needed for Site functionality.

  • Analytics/performance tools to understand how visitors use the Site.

  • Embedded content tools (for example, Calendly) that may set cookies or collect data when you interact with the embed.

Your choices:
You can control cookies through your browser settings (block/delete cookies). If you block certain cookies, parts of the Site may not function properly.

Important note about embeds:
Calendly booking tools can involve their own cookie/banner behavior and settings when embedded.

4) Third-party services we use

We use third party scheduling system Calendly on the Site and provide features. These providers may collect information directly from you and/or from your device under their own privacy policies.

A. Website platform/hosting: Squarespace

Our Site is hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace may process certain information about Site visitors to provide and secure their services and may provide site analytics features.

B. Scheduling: Calendly

If you schedule through our Site, you will interact with Calendly (embedded or linked). Calendly may collect personal data such as your name, email address, and appointment details, and may use cookies/trackers depending on configuration and region.

C. Social media links (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)

Our Site may include links to or embedded content from Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. When you click those links or view embedded content, those platforms may collect information under their own policies. We do not control their privacy practices.

5) How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information:

  • With service providers who help us run the Site (hosting, scheduling, security, analytics).

  • If required by law (legal process, to protect rights/safety, prevent fraud).

  • In a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or asset sale), where allowed by law.

6) Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for:

  • the purposes described in this policy,

  • responding to your requests,

  • maintaining business records,

  • complying with legal obligations,
unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

7) Data security (NY considerations)

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website can guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk (for example: limiting access, using reputable vendors, and maintaining security practices).

If we experience a data security incident involving certain categories of “private information” as defined under New York law, we will provide notices as required.

8) Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

(If your programming routinely involves school groups/minors, keep this section—if you ever add forms for minors, you’ll want stricter controls.)

9) Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live and the nature of your interaction, you may request to:

  • access, correct, or delete certain personal information we have about you,

  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (if applicable),

  • opt out of certain cookie-based tracking via browser settings (see Section 4).

To make a request, email help@thebonemuseum.org. We may need to verify your request before responding.

10) “Do Not Track” signals

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is not a uniform standard for interpreting these signals, the Site may not respond to them.

11) International visitors

If you visit from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States where we and our service providers operate.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
